Avid Hifi Pellar
SELECT OPTIONS:
Pellar
Descended from its bigger relation, our single box phono stage retains the sonic family resemblance, possessing a natural tonal balance with brilliant dynamics and characteristically low background noise.
Bringing greater ownership accessibility for prudent audiophiles, the Pellar is unusual at this price level, having the flexibility of three gain options for MM, low and high gain MC cartridge types.
"The Pellar is open, explicit and always entertaining" - Ed Selley
Key Features
- MM, MC Low, MC Hi Gain

Spellbinding
Achieving sensational sound quality by optimising your cartridge is a breeze. Out of the box, it comes set for a moving magnet cartridge and should you prefer a moving coil there are a series of switches on the underside with high and low gain settings. Additional connections on the rear panel allow you to use customised resistance loading plugs to precisely dial in your cartridge. Abracadabra, awesome magical sound.

REVIEW & AWARDS
Pellar from AVID HiFi: The Company’s Entry Level Phono Amplifier - Read More
"Because the Pellar cuts the sonic rubbish out of the aural picture, the low distortion sound provides excellent instrumental separation that allows the ear to pick up subtle sounds that are often hidden behind the distortion giving the music an evenly representative presentation, addressing the mix as a whole."

AVID Pellar, Pulsus, Pellere, and Pulsare II Phono Stages - Read More
"If the Pellar is a great phono stage at its price and the Pulsus is clearly better but arguably less competitive, the Pulsare II is nothing short of superb. In fact, I was so impressed with its performance in my Ayon system that I was already contemplating keeping it based on its sonics alone. Further adding to this is the utter convenience of front-panel control over all of the preamp’s important facilities. This is an absolute blessing if you often swap cartridges or like to tweak about." - Christiaan Punter

Multitest phono pre-amps – Part 1 – Gold Note – Graham Slee – AVID – MOON - Read More
"Response is almost equal to the MOON and – if we think away the rumble filter – the Gold Note. Phase in the high range is slightly different with the three pre-amps. That may explain the difference in stereo image. (More forward, backward, air…)." - Jaap Veenstra
