High precision tonearms with carbon-fibre armtube

The next generation in 9, 10 and 12 inch

The tonearm is one of the most important parts of a turntable and therefore not only influences, but also shapes the sound in a specific way. We did in-depth listening tests with different bearing types, tonearm materials and also cartridge combinations to develop the sound we are looking for.

What you need to know

The new EVO tonearm uses an inverted cardanic ABEC 7 quality bearing with 4 stainless steel tips. This bearing type is very stable and low friction, which guarantees a clear tracking. This results in a detailed and open sound stage. All the microinformation from the groove is preserved. The bearing sits in a an full aluminium housing, which provides the needed stability.

The EVO CC tonearm tube is made out of one-piece carbon fiber, which is lightweight and strong at the same time. If you look closely, you can see that the arm tube has a conical shape, which means it gets thinner. This design avoids standing wave reflections. The arm tube is fixed by a single screw to allow rotation for an easy azimuth adjustment.

The tonearm height can be continuously adjusted by loosening the two grub screws. It gives you the option of adapting the tonearm to height changes to always achieve the best sound quality. Setting and experimenting with the VTA & Azimuth is crucial in extracting every last bit of performance out of your cartridges.

  • 12cc Evolution BOX (RCA junction box): $1300
  • 12cc Evolution FL (flying leads): $1200
  • 12cc Evolution 5P (female DIN): $1249

Pro-Ject’s 12cc Evolution tonearm provides precise tracking of the record groove and efficiently redirects parasitic vibration away from the cartridge into the mounting board. The 12″ one-piece conical carbon fiber armtube helps to stave off standing wave reflections. The inverted bearing and counterweight are designed to further reject resonance. Adjustment of VTA and azimuth are simple, and you can also easily adjust the armlift for optimal clearance. Internal wiring is flexible high-purity copper from headshell to output. The supplied TPE-damped counterweights are suitable for cartridges weighing 4-7g, 6-9g, 8-12g and 10-15g respectively.

  • Headshell and armtube are fashioned from a single piece of carbon carbon fiber
  • Conical armtube avoids standing wave reflections
  • Inverted bearing design with four ABEC7 spec ballraces
  • Arm bearing housing of solid ring type (massive outer ring is open to avoid resonance)
  • TPE-damped counterweight effectively damps unwanted resonances
  • Counterweight shaft lowered to record level reduces cantilever forces and dynamic wow when playing warped records
  • Solid armbase permits accurate height adjustment of armtube and VTA
  • Single-screw fixing of armtube allows rotation for easy adjustment of azimuth
  • Straight armtube reduces toe-in error
  • Adjustable silicone-damped armlift
  • The internal wiring consists of flexible high-purity copper from the headshell to output
  • Handmade in Europe
