CLARUS MARK II PHONO RCA AUDIO CABLES
A Clean Pathway
Phono cables are designed to connect your turntable and tone arm to a separate phono stage or the phono input of your preamp. Phono cables are particularly important audio cables because the low-level output from the phono cartridge is very fragile. Clarus Aqua and Crimson Phono cables are a combination of a single-ended pair with a 14awg silver-plated PCCC ground cable.
Aqua’s double shielding and Crimson’s triple shielding protects the fragile signal while the ground cable when connected, this ground wire puts the turntable and the amplifier on the same ground potential. If the turntable is not grounded, a small difference in ground potential may cause a ground loop which could result in a 60-cycle alternating current to pass along your audio cables. Since the phono stage input is very sensitive, you may hear an audible 60-cycle hum with the phono input selected. Clarus cables provide a clean pathway from turntable to preamp.
Technology
The Purest Copper Available for the Purest Sound Possible
Clarus designs cables for discriminating audiophiles using the purest copper available. Pure Continuous Cast Copper (PCCC) uses a unique proprietary mold extrusion process that creates substantial lengths of single-crystal copper that is directional, free of impurities, flexible, corrosion-resistant, with low electrical resistance, and non-crystal boundaries that are structurally perfect.
Conductor Geometry Optimized for the Full Audio Spectrum
Clarus cable engineering goes beyond mere wire gauge, utilizing independent Jay Victor’s eight years of research and development of five patents to create single-ended audio cables that feature three distinct conductor types optimized for bass, midrange, and high-frequencies.
Solid, heavy-gauge, round conductors with a broad cross-sectional area enhance the predominant path for low frequencies. A spiraled ultra-thin ribbon conductor wraps around a non-conductive core to provide an ideal path for high frequencies. Mid-range signals are optimized by using a wide, flat conductor. The flat design lacks the skin depth necessary to support low bass, while the insulated large surface area of the mid-range conductor de-emphasizes high frequencies, producing an accurate and silky-smooth audio mid-range.
Multiple Levels of Insulation and Shielding Maintain Signal Purity
A lot is going on inside Clarus phono cables. We are careful to insulate and protect the integrity of the audio signal for maximum sonic purity.
Each of the conductors in Clarus phono cables is independently insulated to minimize intra-conductor and inter-conductor interference, further enhancing the stability of the signal. A protective layer of aluminum and Mylar® are combined with a heavy copper-braided shield that wraps the twin-axial design. This shield is connected only on the source end of the cable and acts like an antenna/drain to provide a path for induced noise away from the connected component’s input stage. The result is clear, full range audio with a dead quiet background.
Mark II — The Final Connection
Clarus terminates MKII phono cables with RCA connectors made from two copper alloys: high-purity, high-conductivity tellurium copper provides low resistance with superior sound characteristics, and lightweight, springy, and high-conductivity beryllium copper guarantees solid contact and ultra-low loss signal transfer.
The tellurium copper center pin features a hollow design that reduces eddy currents that slow signal transfer. In addition, beryllium copper, used for the ground section of the RCA connector, boasts a strong memory characteristic. When its shape is displaced, it springs back to its original position or shape, ensuring the RCA plug’s ground plates firmly grip the RCA receptacle for a solid ground connection.
Clarus MKII Phono Audio Cables— Exquisite Openness and Transparency
Clarus designs, engineers, and crafts each phono cable to provide the ultimate listening experience for discerning audiophiles. Crafted with Clarus MKII RCA connectors, no other audiophile-grade cables feature the innovative engineering breakthroughs and enhanced high-end performance of Clarus phono audio cables.
Clarus phono single-ended RCA audio cables are packaged and sold in pairs.
