Focal Kanta N°3
SELECT OPTIONS:
KANTA N°3
3-way floor-standing speaker
High-fidelity reference of the line, Kanta N°3 is an acoustic work with resolutely modern design. It combines a number of exclusive focal technologies, for flawless hi-fi quality in stereo configuration like home cinema. With Kanta, performance has style.
ALL IN MUSIC
This hi-fi loudspeaker combines depth, impact and bass register articulation. The definition and neutrality of the midrange are exceptional, thanks to the advantages of the French Flax membrane. The latest-generation IAL tweeter reproduces the finest details with surgical precision.
MODERN AND DISRUPTIVE, KANTA TURNS DESIGN CODES ON THEIR HEAD
DESIGN FOR SOUND
Thanks to Focus Time, all the loudspeakers are at the same distance from the ear. The modern, disruptive character of the loudspeaker is underlined by a one-piece molded wood rear shell, a Zamak base, a glass plate, discreet magnetic fabric holders...
MODERN FINISHES
Mat fronts are combined with Black High Gloss, White High Gloss and Walnut High Gloss bodies, offering a wide choice of contemporary combinations. Sophisticated, the Matte effect "absorbs" light rather than reflecting it, creating a refined contrast with the varnishes.
TECHNOLOGIES
TMD SUSPENSION
Stabilized surround, eliminates vibrations
While our engineers are experts in the development of exclusive diaphragms, they also innovate in all the components that make up the loudspeakers, such as the surround that connects the diaphragm to the frame, the performance of which must be mastered. Introduced in 2015, Tuned Mass Damper (TMD) technology with harmonic damping consists of the addition of finely positioned toroidal weights to stabilize the surround for even greater sonic neutrality. This technology enhances the midrange and the erratic behavior of the surround between 1 kHz and 2 kHz.
BÉRYLLIUM TWEETER
For exceptional treble
Membrane shape and materials are essential for high-fidelity reproduction. For exceptional treble, our engineers have developed the Béryllium inverted dome tweeter in pure Beryllium. Thanks to its unrivalled rigidity, Beryllium is the material of choice for high-frequency loudspeakers. Developed and patented by Focal, the pure Beryllium inverted dome is capable of covering more than five octaves (1,000 - 40,000 Hz) for perfect perception of micro-details.
HIGH DENSITY POLYMER
Specially designed cabinetry
Everything is designed to bring softness and warmth to the sound: density and rigidity of both front and shell materials, soft angles and a double vent. A new material, favorable to acoustic parameters, is used for the façade. It is molded from a single block of High Density Polymer (HDP). This material offers enhanced performance: it is 70% denser than MDF, 15% more rigid and offers 25% more damping. The one-piece front panel eliminates any sound diffraction.
NIC TECHNOLOGY
Very high sound definition
For very high-definition sound, control of the magnetic flux circulating in the loudspeaker is essential. Our acousticians have created a magnetic circuit of incredible stability, guaranteeing perfectly controlled sound: Neutral Inductance Circuit (NIC) technology. This patented technology resides in a Faraday ring whose dimensions, material and positioning are optimized to make the magnetic flux stable and the sound highly precise.
FLAX MEMBRANE
Purity and precision of sound
As the key component of a loudspeaker, the membrane is at the heart of our acoustic engineers' research. After more than five years of research and development, in 2013 Focal unveiled an exclusive membrane made from flax. Patented, this Flax cone is a sandwich made of very high quality French flax fibre placed between two thin sheets of glass fibre. It satisfies all the criteria of a high-fidelity membrane: lightness to offer good dynamics, rigidity to hold the bass and damping to deliver a neutral, natural, uncolored sound. It is an emblematic Focal innovation in many hi-fi products.
REVIEW & AWARDS
Focal Kanta No.3 review - Read More
"In the world of high-end loudspeakers, it's a fine art avoiding the trap of diminishing returns, but the Focal Kanta No.3 rides perfectly in the sweet spot – delivering terrific sound quality and a stylish design for its price."
Focal Kanta No. 3 Floorstanding Speaker And Kanta Center Speaker Reviewed - Read More
"I know many astute audiophiles may be concerned about the M-T-M configuration of the Kanta Center as it can lead to inconsistent sound as you move horizontally. But the Focal engineers have done a good job minimizing any differences using careful driver positioning and crossover design. If you own any of the Kanta speakers, even the largest Kanta No. 3's, the Kanta Center makes a seamless sonic match that will not compromise itself when faced with dynamic scenes at high volume." - BRIAN KAHN
Review: Focal Kanta No. 3 - Read More
"Focal Kanta No. 3 will definitely make your ears stand out from your head, and the vibrations from the bass region will massage you while your senses are lubricated by the most delicious nuances. Music flows from a generous soundstage that you’ll likely find as refreshingly calming as I did. It seems that there are no inhibitions here, and the joy of listening to music is enhanced by the lightning-fast dynamics, excellent resolution and a very open and detailed soundstage. If you have the space and the funds, a pair of Kanta No.3’s, will add a splash of colour to your life and enhance the joy of listening to music." - Lasse Svendsen
Focal Kanta No3 Loudspeaker - Read More
"OK, so speakers over 1.2m tall aren't ever going to vanish into the room, and Focal's choice of finishes, and that 'floating' support, mean the Kanta No3 is always going to be a talking point. But these floorstanders are even more about go than show, providing a glorious fluidity of music-making, detail and focus, and sense of sheer power when required. It all comes together to make this a very special choice." - Andrew Everard
