HiFi News / Press Coverage
Hi-Fi News has reviewed the Quad ESL 2912X, the latest evolution of Quad’s large-format electrostatic loudspeaker.
What Hi-Fi News Found
The review focuses on Quad’s revisions to the audio transformers, upgraded passive components and efforts to extend high-frequency performance while preserving the transparency and openness that define the company’s electrostatic heritage.
In listening, the ESL 2912X is praised for delivering the familiar immediacy of a Quad panel with greater scale, extension and usable output than earlier generations. Hi-Fi News also notes that the speaker can play at substantially higher levels than many listeners may associate with classic Quad electrostatics.
House of Stereo Take
The ESL 2912X is for listeners who value coherence, speed, openness and natural midrange reproduction above conventional box-speaker impact. Room size, placement and amplifier matching remain important, but in the right system the 2912X offers a presentation that is difficult to duplicate with traditional dynamic loudspeakers.
