Music like at the opera. The sound image takes on a whole new dimension here, filling the space with elegance. A 135 cm high 3-way floorstanding speaker, the Quatuor 40th is the flagship of the new MAGELLAN 40th Anniversary edition.

Inheriting a new magnesium alloy dome, its horn tweeter gently and precisely reveals the smallest details of your recordings. The Quatuor 40th is distinguished by the addition of a rear tweeter allowing the speaker to radiate energy to the front and rear of the emission point. The sound volume is thus better distributed and the positioning of the speaker simplified.

The 16 cm midrange driver with paper cone and small pleat suspension, a true TRIANGLE trademark, ensures a very neutral sound reproduction without the slightest coloration of the vocal register.

The powerful and fleshy bass of the three 16cm speakers is perfectly suited to modern music such as a prestigious string quartet or a cello suite. Its proprietary Sandwich Glass Honeycomb membrane and its cooling system give it exceptional performance in the bass and sub-bass registers. Its extended bandwidth and its significant power reserve allow it to easily provide sound in rooms larger than 30m2.

DPS2 Dynamic Pulse System

On the QUATUOR 40th Anniversary model, the addition of the tweeter at the rear allows the speaker to radiate energy to the front and rear of the emission point, just like a symphony orchestra would. We regain energy initially lost off-axis from the listening point, the sound volume is thus better distributed in front of the listener.

The speaker is then more easily placed in the room and has a stable and deep sound image with a large opening without distorting the original signal.

Glass Honeycomb Sandwich Membrane

The speaker is equipped with a proprietary SVA (Sandwich Glass Alveolar) cone. This computer-modeled composite sandwich cone is composed of a double sheet of fiberglass with an internal honeycomb structure made of cellulose pulp.

This principle ensures that the moving part has an optimum mass, damping and rigidity ratio. The loudspeaker can then withstand high deflections without deformation.

Perfectly inert cabinetmaking

The cabinetry of the MAGELLAN 40th Anniversary is the subject of in-depth study in a total quest for inertia. Its curved shape is the result of successive superposition under stress of 3mm layers of high-density wood particles, thus excluding any internal parallelism.

This cabinet is characterized by a specific architecture born from a thorough study on the vibration phenomena and microdeformations of the cabinetwork. Reinforcements have been positioned at strategic locations, providing the best possible rigidity to the cabinetwork in the face of disturbances caused by the movement of the speakers.
