REVIEW & AWARDS

Bluesound Powernode Edge review - Read More

"If it’s affordability and compactness you’re after, we could point you in the direction of the Triangle AIO Twin (£699 / $1000 / AU$1099) which dispenses the need for a separate box altogether by having the amplification and streaming smarts all inside the speakers themselves. The feature set is roughly similar between this and the Bluesound, but the Triangle all-in-one speaker system is easily the more entertaining of the two. And you don’t even have to spend extra money on speakers or cables with them.

The Powernode Edge may not be an all-round musical wonder, but it’s competent, compact and versatile – a neat solution. We’d love to see more hi-fi products of this style entering the market as it could form the basis of a truly modern music system. ." - What Hi-Fi?

Bluesound Powernode Edge Streaming Amplifier Reviewed - Read More

"Bluesound has done right by consumers in making $649 go far by offering an affordable yet well-rounded product with performance advantages you can hear. No longer is there a viable excuse for music lovers to deny themselves a modern streaming audio system. This well-designed and thought-out component will provide years of enjoyment for many people. One final thought to consider: in the recent past, a more balanced approach to system design was prudent. Not anymore. If your budget allows, I can imagine pairing a relatively high-end speaker like the Kanta No. 2 or even the more challenging to drive Bower Wilkins 805 D4 with the Powernode Edge. On the other hand, if you moved to a less-expensive speaker to budget for a higher-powered amplifier, the results would not be better, but more likely significantly worse. The strategy here would be to obtain the speakers that you want today and let the Bluesound Powernode Edge hold you over until your budget allows a higher-powered amplifier: the Powernode Edge is that good.  " - Greg Handy

Bluesound Powernode Edge Streaming Amp Review - Read More

"Following hot on the heels of the Mission 778X, which is £50 cheaper than the Powernode Edge, it’s important to clarify a few things. Even before doing niche things like connecting a turntable or similar is taken into account, the Mission is the better device to build a ‘main’ affordable system around. The Mission is an exceptional affordable amp and the Edge isn’t able to compete with the sheer ability that it demonstrates.

The thing is Bluesound knows this. The competition to the Mission as far as they are concerned is made by NAD not Bluesound and it’s a rather more considered rival to the 778X. Where the Edge comes into its own is any house where BluOS already has a foothold. Adding one to another room, especially where a screen is also present sees the Edge deliver a performance that rivals can’t easily match, not because they can’t match how it sounds but because they take up more space to match its functionality, can’t deliver it in anything like as slick a way. This is the second system boiled down to the neatest, slickest device Bluesound knows how to make and viewed in this niche exploiting manner, it has to be seen as Highly Recommended.." - Ed Selley

Bluesound POWERNODE EDGE - Read More

"Most products I’ve reviewed are designed to live in a dedicated two-channel stereo system, probably in a fancy equipment rack in a room with carefully considered acoustic properties. Some of the more approachable products might sell in the thousands of units while the more niche might sell a few dozen. All have their merits. The Powernode Edge ($649)is unique among all these in that it can deliver most of the listening experience of a niche audiophile product while also being legitimately appealing to non-audiophile, mainstream consumers. People who have never played an LP or even heard of a vacuum tube may try for a Powernode Edge with passive speakers as a first entry into the realm of audiophilia. As with any software-centric product, one must consider their specific needs and preferred digital ecosystem, however, based on my experience the Powernode Edge is a great value and easily recommendable on both product quality and sonic capabilities." - Maxwell Geiger
