Easily connect wired sources, like a TV or turntable, with HDMI eARC or the combo analog/digital input. Add the PULSE SUB+ Wireless Subwoofer for a powerful but compact 2.1 stereo system or even use the POWERNODE EDGE to power the rear channels of a wireless Bluesound surround sound setup. Using the BluOS Controller App, select songs from popular streaming services like Spotify, Tidal, Qobuz, SiriusXM, from your own music library through Apple Airplay2, aptX™ HD Bluetooth®, or even a network-connected drive or USB hard drive.

No longer is there a viable excuse for music lovers to deny themselves a modern streaming audio system. This well-designed and thought-out component will provide years of enjoyment for many people. One final thought to consider: in the recent past, a more balanced approach to system design was prudent. Not anymore. If your budget allows, I can imagine pairing a relatively high-end speaker like the Kanta No. 2 or even the more challenging to drive Bower Wilkins 805 D4 with the Powernode Edge. On the other hand, if you moved to a less-expensive speaker to budget for a higher-powered amplifier, the results would not be better, but more likely significantly worse. "Following hot on the heels of the Mission 778X, which is £50 cheaper than the Powernode Edge, it’s important to clarify a few things. Even before doing niche things like connecting a turntable or similar is taken into account, the Mission is the better device to build a ‘main’ affordable system around. The Mission is an exceptional affordable amp and the Edge isn’t able to compete with the sheer ability that it demonstrates.

The thing is Bluesound knows this. The competition to the Mission as far as they are concerned is made by NAD not Bluesound and it’s a rather more considered rival to the 778X. Where the Edge comes into its own is any house where BluOS already has a foothold. Adding one to another room, especially where a screen is also present sees the Edge deliver a performance that rivals can’t easily match, not because they can’t match how it sounds but because they take up more space to match its functionality, can’t deliver it in anything like as slick a way.
