TTOBY

100w Stereo Power Amplifier

The TToby range may be ideally suited to compact living environments, but don’t let that fool you. With similar legendary amplification derived from our SPM range, TToby doesn’t compromise on power or providing you with the purest audio experience possible.

DESCRIPTION

The TToby has been designed to complement our desktop DAC/headphone amplifier, the Hugo TT 2 and shares the same compact form factor as its stablemate. The combination of our 1M-tap digital upscaling device M Scaler, Hugo TT 2 and TToby provides a high-quality hi-fi system, with desktop dimensions and a space-saving footprint. Despite its size, the TToby sets new standards for small amplifiers and takes full advantage of Chord Electronics’ proprietary amplification technology and design know-how.

The addition of TToby, enables owners of the Hugo TT 2 to fully exploit the device as a ‘digital preamp’, effortlessly driving a wide variety of loudspeakers, large or small, in addition to the Hugo TT 2’s headphone prowess. The TToby is a 100-watt design, featuring both an unbalanced and balanced input, to take advantage of the Hugo TT 2’s XLR output.

TToby features two of our famous high-frequency power supplies and benefits from forced air-cooling through the aluminium casework by means of a sonically closed anechoic miniature multi-speed quadruple-fan plenum chamber, enabling the external design to be free of sharp heatsinks and, therefore, carry a stunning aesthetic. The M Scaler/Hugo TT 2/TToby combination offers both class-leading DAC and amplification technology via headphones and loudspeakers, giving complete flexibility within the demands of busy households.

REVIEW & AWARDS

Chord TToby review

"The TToby surprised us. We weren’t expecting such a balanced and musical performance from something so compact. It just goes to show that everything should only be judged after listening. Despite appearances, this is one of the finest power amps available for the money." - What Hi-Fi?

Appliance of science

"What elevates this system further is how little it asks of you while it does these incredible things. It takes up an impressively small amount of space, is attractive and unobtrusive and the range of inputs on the M Scaler should allow for a wide selection of digital sources to be accommodated. Driven by Roon or another good streaming interface, it is the sort of setup that you settle down to listen to on Saturday morning and lose the day to. There should always be a place for tradition in audio, but as a demonstration of what is possible when you keep pushing the limits, there are few better examples than this. This is the cutting-edge of hi-fi and it is truly outstanding" - Ed Selley

Chord TToby

"This is an exceptionally good power amplifier - it just happens to be small, which will no doubt expand the possibilities for its use beyond partnering its matching HugoTT DAC/headphone preamp. To think of it as a great desktop choice is to do it a disservice - yes, it will perform that function very well, but this miniaturised version of Chord's mighty power amplifiers has lost none of its heritage in the process." -  Andrew Everard

Power Chord!

"It's hard not to like this maverick combination. It's flexible - if you're prepared to overlook Hugo's lack of support for analogue sources - and proves that a musically- satisfying performance and an analytical nature need not be mutually exclusive. My only serious criticism? It's a shame that the amp's power switch is stuck away on the rear panel. For its part, Chord recommends leaving it switched on "when not in use" as "T Toby consumes very little power when idle". When Chord gets around to designing their successors - WTA filters with even more 'taps', and Class D amps that do indeed exude 'raw power' - I hope some kind of triggering will be included, so that when you turn the DAC on or off the amp follows suit." -  Hi-Fi World

Review Chord Electronics Ttoby power amplifier

"A lot of technology comes from the prestigious SPM line and was largely crammed into this little miracle. However, this amplifier gets only slightly warm thanks to an ingenious cooling system. Unfortunately, the fans of our demo model weren’t quiet. We’ve presented this flaw to both the importer and Chord’s own people, and both confirm that the new models are completely silent." - Geoffrey

Chord Electronics TToby Stereo Power Amplifier – Compact Without Compromise

"Although the Chord TToby is not inexpensive, it won’t take you long to realize it performs at the top of its class. Give the Chord TToby a listen, especially if you have a Chord Electronics DAC. It’ll be too alluring to resist." - Jay Luong

Anglický trojlístek

"Skvělé je to, že můžete začít budovat aparát jen s převodníkem Hugo TT2, který využijete bez upsamplingu a reproduktorové soustavy zapojíte přímo na jeho výstup. Pokud potřebujete větší výstupní výkon, přikoupíte výkonový zesilovač Hugo TToby, nebo chcete-li ještě větší kvalitu, rozlišení a výkon, rozšíříte Hugo TT2 o Hugo M Scaler.
" -  Miroslav

Chord Hugo TT & TToby Review

"An utterly fabulous compact hi-fi stack that’s perfect for digital-only audiophiles." -  Simon Osborne-Walker
