Synergistic Research / Galileo Lux / Digital interconnects

Two digital interfaces.
Choose the right link.

Connect a compatible transport or streamer to your DAC with the Lux digital interface your components support. RCA S/PDIF and XLR AES/EBU are separate configurations, each designed around its protocol.

A visual guide

Match the interface
at both ends.

Connector shape is only the first check. The source output and DAC input must support the same digital format.

S/PDIF · RCA

75 Ω
Coaxial digital interface
Transport / streamer → compatible DAC

AES/EBU · XLR

110 Ω
Balanced digital interface
Transport / streamer → compatible DAC

These are digital interfaces. An XLR digital cable is selected for AES/EBU service rather than an analog XLR connection.

The details that matter

Understand the design.

01 / GEOMETRY

Built for the interface.

SR describes separate geometries for RCA digital and AES/EBU, with emphasis on the electrical behavior of each interface.

02 / PUBLISHED CONSTRUCTION

Silver Matrix and AirStrings.

SR’s detailed specification lists copper-core Silver Matrix groups with solid PTFE dielectric, alongside pure-silver AirString groups with sealed air dielectric.

03 / FIELD & FACTORY TREATMENT

UEF and conditioning.

SR identifies a protocol-specific UEF compound, Ground Plane Technology and custom high-voltage conditioning, with a five-day factory burn-in.

SR’s technology descriptions identify its design approach and intended effects. Evaluate the result in the context of your own system.

Digital construction
deserves its own explanation.

The detailed SR specification distinguishes Silver Matrix and Silver AirString elements. We keep those descriptions separate so you can see the materials and dielectric types actually listed for the digital design.

Before you choose

Match the system you have.

Which format should I buy?

Use the digital format supported by both components. Match a source S/PDIF RCA output to a compatible DAC S/PDIF RCA input, or an AES/EBU XLR output to a compatible AES/EBU input.

Can I choose this for an analog XLR connection?

Choose the analog Lux interconnect for analog line-level connections. This page’s XLR configuration is the AES/EBU digital interface.

How should I choose the length?

Measure the actual rack route with space for connectors, bends and service access. The current selections run from 1 to 3 meters in half-meter steps.

House of Stereo / Listening notes

Give the comparison
some context.

Keep the same digital format, source material, DAC settings and playback level when comparing cables. Changing from one interface to another can also change the input circuitry being evaluated; make a note of that distinction.
