Cambridge Audio L/R M

This is where we would start the living-room conversation.

You want music without a rack of equipment. The television is in the same room. There may be a turntable you would like to keep using. That is a practical system to build, and the L/R M is where we would begin looking at how the pieces fit.

It brings the amplifier and network player into the speaker pair, with connections for a compatible TV and moving-magnet vinyl setup. You are choosing most of a system at once, so the sources you own matter just as much as the space on the furniture.

Three ways into your music.

Streaming

StreamMagic Gen 4 provides network streaming, including Qobuz Connect, TIDAL Connect and Spotify Connect. Tell us what service you use and how you prefer to control it.

Television

HDMI eARC links a compatible television to the speakers. We would check the TV’s connections and audio settings, then look at whether the screen leaves enough room for a properly spaced stereo pair.

Records

The MM phono input accepts a suitable moving-magnet cartridge setup. If your turntable already has a phono stage, we will help choose the appropriate connection. The goal is a clear signal path with the right gain, not two phono stages doing the same job.

Compact does not mean placement stops mattering.

A sideboard, a pair of stands and a deep bookshelf are three different starting points. Send us a photo before committing to a location. Give each speaker room to work, keep the arrangement reasonably symmetrical, and judge the result from your actual seat.

M or X?

Start with listening distance, how open the room is and the volume you enjoy. If the room or your bass expectations ask more of the system, the L/R X deserves a closer look. If this is really a computer setup and you do not need network streaming or the TV and phono connections, the L/R S may cover the job.

We would rather get those answers first than assume the most expensive model is the right one.
